Sanitary Rotary Batch Mixer
Distributes Liquids Throughout Solids in 1-3 Minutes

A couple of minutes hardly seems enough time to do anything, yet 1-3 minutes is all it takes for the new sanitary Munson Rotary Batch Mixer to distribute liquid additions throughout dry solids with total uniformity and minimal shear or heat.

Munson Model 700-TH-40-SS uses an internal spray line to introduce coatings, flavorings, vitamins or active ingredients in liquid form into any bulk solid food, nutraceutical, chemical or mineral product.

The stationary inlet and outlet (shown) can be hard piped into the process. Material can be loaded while the drum is rotating, and fully discharged through the plug gate valve, eliminating waste and allowing rapid cleaning/sanitizing.

How It Works
Proprietary mixing flights within the rotating drum fold, tumble, cut and turn the material, recombining 288 times per minute, creating a wide bed of moving material onto which liquids can be sprayed, in trace amounts or large quantities for rapid incorporation. The flights also direct the material toward and through a stationary, pneumatically-actuated plug gate valve for total discharge, eliminating residual that would otherwise be wasted or require manual removal prior to cleaning.

Easy Maintenance
Twin doors on opposing sides of the mixing vessel and a sliding intake chute provide unobstructed access to the interior, intake spout and seal area for cleaning, sanitizing and visual inspection of all material contact surfaces. An internal supply line allows in-place rinsing and cleaning.

Munson Model 700-TH-40-SS Sanitary Rotary Batch Mixer with retractable inlet and dual doors allows unobstructed access to all material contact surfaces for cleaning/sanitizing and inspection.

  • Stainless steel finished to sanitary standards
  • Useable batch capacity of 40 cu ft (1,130 liters), total capacity of 82 cu ft (2,320 liters)
  • Equally effective in blending batches from 100 percent of rated capacity to as low as 15 percent without liquid additions, and to 33 percent with liquid additions.
Built Tough
The rotating drum is supported by two oversized trunnion rings that ride on heavy-duty alloy roller assemblies, providing long life with minimal maintenance. The design eliminates the need for an internal shaft with seals contacting material. To contain dust, the machine has one seal at the inlet, which is mounted externally to allow rapid, inexpensive replacement, according to the company.

Lab Rat

I was working in a chemistry lab and created a mixture whose weight was 90% water and 10% carbon. The total weight of the mixture was 20 pounds.

After creating the mixture, I left for 2 days. When I returned, the weight of water in the mixture was reduced from 90% to 50%.

How much does the mixture weigh now?
